Built as a pumping station to drain Lake Mattamuskeet in the 1920s, Mattamuskeet Lodge was remodeled by the US Government in the ’30s. They turned it into a hotel/hunting lodge. Numerous attempts to reopen it have fallen short. These photos are from October 2023.
